El Castillo de la Frontera. Vejer’s castle commands the highest part of the old town. It was built in the tenth and eleventh centuries on the foundations of an earlier fortification. From its weapons’ courtyard, battlements can be accessed to enjoy beautiful views of the town and ocean.
Iglesia Parroquial del Divino Salvador. Built atop an earlier Moorish mosque, this unusual church is 14th-century Mudéjar at the altar end and 16th-century Gothic at the other. Visit in the late afternoon as the sun shines through its stained-glass windows, projecting multicoloured light above the altar. ​

Arco de las Monjas. The beauty of this arched iconic walkway arose out of functionality. The buttresses’, erected after the earthquake of the eighteenth century to support the walls, are one of the most photographed sites in Vejer de la Frontera

The Convent of the Conceptionist Nuns. Now home to the Customs and Tradition Museum of the Municipality of Vejer offering interesting insights into Vejer de la Frontera’s agricultural roots.

Casa del Mayorazgo. The Mayor’s house, built in the baroque style, has a tower, crenelated walls and patios full of flowers. Climb up to the battlements for a view over Vejer de la Frontera, the surrounding green and golden plains ending in the beaches of the Costa del Luz, and over the sea to Morocco’s Atlas Mountains.
